Wednesday was the last day for the IV antibiotics and after testing his blood, he was started on the new chemo which has a immunology component. There were a few extra things we needed to do in preparation and a few things we still have to do every day to avoid side effects. This combo of drugs has more side effects and more people experience the side effects. only about 5 out of 100 don’t get them. So far we have kept up with the requirements and no side effects (it’s only day 3). Usually after the chemo machine is removed, my son has gotten very tired for several days. We know this from last round and fatigue is part of the side effects of these drugs as well, so we are expecting that.

During the “lull” between my sons chemo treatments I seem to have found some time to do a few posts.

Thank you for your messages. I appreciate the support and prayers. He has decided he wants to try another round of a different Chemo. Right now because of the infection caused by the radiation, we are doing at home IV antibiotics (we did 14 days of oral antibiotics, but no resolution of the infection). This will last for another week and if all goes well, he will start the new Chemo week after that. All things considered he is doing well, eating, moving, etc. We are trying to get him “stronger” for the next round. The doctors do not seem hopeful at all (which can get quite depressing at times), but we remain hopeful and are waiting for that miracle we know is possible.
