Thank you for your prayers! Second round of chemo went easily and again no side effects. He continues to do well and his weight at this last chemo weigh in was 116 lbs! This week I am discussing with him ways we might consider some changes now that he is feeling better. Things that might build or start to build back some muscle and strength. Next chemo is the 9th. I asked the doctor about many things last visit, but he keeps telling me we have to wait till next CT scan. He said after 6 rounds of the chemo, so for now we are waiting for that.

All is amazingly good here. Did you think I would ever be able to say that after all of this? Seems the radiation breaking up the mass and which caused the large infection (which had to be drained) has helped his overall condition. I am sure the 14 days of IV antibiotics helped too. This “new” chemo treatment (6/11) went well and just like before, he had none of the side effects except a bit of fatigue. That went away pretty quickly and resulted in him requesting to go out twice (which we did). First day, he bought a new phone which he needed, and then 2nd time to get a soundbar (which he then installed himself that evening) and to lunch at Applebees. He is doing more for himself, and moving, eating and generally feeling relatively well. He was 110.7 lbs right before chemo on the 11th. and oncologist said his blood work was looking good. And although the Dr. won’t test him to see about what is going on with the tumor/mass, we remain positive and hopeful. Second chemo of this round happens on Wednesday the 25th. Thank you for all your prayers and concern. Keep praying.

Wednesday was the last day for the IV antibiotics and after testing his blood, he was started on the new chemo which has a immunology component. There were a few extra things we needed to do in preparation and a few things we still have to do every day to avoid side effects. This combo of drugs has more side effects and more people experience the side effects. only about 5 out of 100 don’t get them. So far we have kept up with the requirements and no side effects (it’s only day 3). Usually after the chemo machine is removed, my son has gotten very tired for several days. We know this from last round and fatigue is part of the side effects of these drugs as well, so we are expecting that.
