Doctor said we are on maintenance, several medicines have been changed and our chemo sessions are now much shorter. He also said we should look into 2nd. surgical opinion at this time to reverse the ostomy bag. While my son is anxious about getting this done, he is also not in a hurry. Basically he is wanting to see what if anything shows on the next CT scan (scheduled for next month), and finishing up theses last rounds of chemo. He is talking with a Life with Cancer counselor which I think is also helping. I have been trying to get him to write a list of things we need to do – like make sure his car even runs before we register it, but he is not the type who plans out things so even making the list is hard for him. I keep saying one small step at a time but he wants the result fast and easy. It’s not going to be fast or easy.

Thank you prayer warriors! Today we weren’t supposed to see the Dr. at the infusion center, but we did. When he walked by, my son asked him when his next CT scan would be? He said soon. My son wanted to know because the last CT scan showed no measurable tumor. Dr. also mentioned my son was on “maintenance” — which meant to us that he wasn’t expecting the tumor to reoccur. Our medications today were much less than usual and one of them was totally eliminated. We did come home with the chemo machine and so that didn’t change, but we are feeling good about all of it. Now we are so curious to see if perhaps, there is still no measurable tumor. What a blessing this already is – from “you have 3 weeks”, to you might have your whole life ahead of you! We are winning this battle.
